Gary “Nesta” Pine has been the lead singer for the Wailers since 1998. This legendary band, led by Aston “Family Man” Barrett, performed and created many hits with Bob Marley during his lifetime. Alongside the Wailers, Gary has played a part in history helping to spread what is considered the most revolutionary, yet peaceful and ground- breaking music in modern history. Fans and critics alike are comfortable that Gary does not attempt to imitate Bob; rather, he brings a level of creativity and raw intensity to the stage that keeps each performance fresh – performing his original tunes “Light it Up”, “Dem Wouldn’t Live” and “Be Wise”.
Prior to performing with the Wailers, Gary was the lead singer for City Heat, one of Jamaica’s and New York City’s most popular bands. The hotel circuit in Jamaica was the training ground for the band’s young talent, grooming artists like Diana King. After emigrating to the U.S. in 1992, City Heat traveled the world touring with Super Cat, while playing an integral part in the development of New York City’s underground reggae scene. Gary quickly became known as a charismatic and crowd motivating artist. He is also loved for his unique voice, his magnetic personality, his attention-grabbing stage presence and his outstanding performances.
Gary’s original releases include the political rocker “Fighting for the Right Thing” with Easy Star Records and “Dem Wouldn’t Live” with Wild Apache Records. Gary also performed “Money” on the widely acclaimed “Dub Side of the Moon”, Easy Star’s re-make of Pink Floyd’s “The Wall”.
Most recently, Gary’s collaboration with French producer, Bob Sinclar, allowed him to take a new journey into European dance music. The single “Love Generation” has hit the charts in the United States, France, England, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Austria, Australia and Portugal, and has been called “an instant classic” and a “real feel-good tune”.
This is just the beginning for Gary. He has been granted the extreme honor of taking the stage alongside Bob Marley’s Wailers while collaborating with some of the most talented musicians and producers in the industry. Until now, Gary has given his fans small windows into his creative potential. Now that he is tapping into untouched areas of his music, we will no doubt see more of Gary Nesta…… and he’s taking his fans along for the ride! |
