Jocelyn Brown Biography

Jocelyn Brown has one of the most spine-tingling, glass-shattering voices in the business.
When not writing and releasing her own material she is adding sparkle to other people’s work via sampling or collaboration. To this effect Miss B’s contribution never go unnoticed. She can practically stamp a song ‘HIT’ with one trademark holler. It is Jocelyn’ effervescent combination of humility and talent, though, that makes her the unique performer she is today.
‘I Got The Power’, a sample of Jaclyn’s voice on Snap’s international number 1 single, ‘The Power’ totally astonished the artiste herself when arriving in a club for a performance and hearing her voice repeatedly. She witnessed first hand the audience’s response to the powerful vocals featured on this hit single.
Jocelyn first gained national attention with the release of her debut album for Warner Brothers Records, ‘One From The Heart’ in the mid-eighties. With cuts produced by Jellybean Benitez and the teams of Hubert Eaves, James Batton Russ Titleman, and Rob Mounsey. The album featured eight powerful tracks including hits like ‘Love’s Gonna Get You’ and the perennial club classic ‘Somebody Else’s Guy’ written by Jocelyn and her sister Annette.
Jocelyn has established quite an impressive portfolio working with stellar names such as Luther Vandross, Bette Midler, John Lennon, Quincey Jones, Michael Jackson, Roberta Flack, George Benson, Teddy Pendergrass, Culture Club and many others.
Jocelyn became one of the most sought after studio vocalists in the world music industry. She backed John Lennon on his classic ‘Imagine’ album and shared lead vocals with Luther Vandross on ‘Searchin’. ‘The Glow Of Love’ and ‘Its A Girl Affair’. ‘This Is The Moment Of My Life’ and ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’ as a group member of Inner Life.
Jocelyn also gained international recognition for her top five hit, ‘Somebody Else’s Guy’ and her hit dance single ‘Love’s Gonna Get You’ (from which Snap’s ‘I’ve Got The Power’. Jocelyn has enjoyed chart success with Right Said Fred, collaborating on the single ‘Don’t Talk Just Kiss’.
